Most of the casting news for Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day 2 has understandably been focused on who’s coming back, but there’s some very exciting news about a new character.
Emmerich announced on his Twitter account that It Follows and The Guest star Maika Monroe has signed on to join Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A Fox, Judd Hirsch and Brent Spiner.

She’ll be starring alongside fellow franchise newbies Jessie Usher, Liam Hemsworth, Travis Tope, Joey King and, somewhat unexpectedly, Charlotte Gainsbourg.
