Microsoft is going all out with its advertising for the upcoming expansion to Halo: 3, named ODST. Magazine adverts, billboards and the sides of buses have abounded, but this is easily the best marketing gimmick to date.
Directed by Rupert Sanders, this brief clip expands on Neill Blomkamp’s previous ODST-themed shorts, and delivers a far slicker, more intense and graphically excellent glimpse into the what-could-have-been.
As /Film noted in its report, it’s hard to escape the feeling that Microsoft and Bungie are sending a little message to Hollywood with this entry. Look out for the reference to The Forever War at the end, as well.
Halo: 3 ODST is released on 22 September 2009, on Xbox 360.
