After surviving last year’s Hunger Games, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) are advised to play up the ‘teenagers in love’ angle to stay out of the Capitol’s line of fire in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. However, it’s not just acting for Peeta, who really starts to fall for his District 12 partner. His feeling might not go unrequited for long, though, according to actress Jennifer Lawrence:

“Before, there was a part of her that only Gale [Liam Hemsworth] knew, but now she has been through this thing with Peeta, and they are the only people who can really understand how each other feels,” she explains, speaking exclusively to SciFiNow. “She still loves Gale, and he still loves her, but he will never understand that side of her. So she starts to feel closer to Peeta.”

But to begin with, The Girl On Fire (as she’s called with affection) is also going to be feeling at a loss in the Hunger Games sequel. One of the perks of winning the Games, aside from staying alive, is being given a cash prize and a house in the Victor’s village, but Katniss isn’t enjoying it much…

“She’s suffering from post-traumatic stress from the first Games. And she also has to get used to this new life of not having to go and hunt for her food,” says Lawrence. “She doesn’t have to worry about how she is going to eat, which leaves her feeling useless.”

But we’re sure there will be plenty to worry about once the 75th Hunger Games gets underway. President Snow (Donald Sutherland) has something special planned…

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is released on 22 November 2013. You can buy The Hunger Games on DVD for £7 at Amazon.co.uk.
