How To Talk To Girls At Parties teasers go alien punk

The first teasers for How To Talk To Girls At Parties will do punk to you

John Cameron Mitchell’s film of Neil Gaiman’s classic short story How To Talk To Girls At Parties premiered at Cannes over the weekend, and three teaser trailers have hit Instagram via Mitchell, Gaiman and star Elle Fanning. As you can see, the plot does indeed look pretty different to the story, but it does look pretty bloody wonderful.

If these teasers didn’t quite explain what’s going on, the film follows Enn (Alex Sharp), a Croydon teenager who goes with his friends to a house party hosted by famous punk Queen Boudicea (Nicole Kidman). They find a clique of beautiful foreign exhange students and Enn is immediately smitten by Zan (Fanning), but they quickly realise that these women aren’t just foreign exchange students…they’re from another world.

Mitchell (Hedwig & The Angry Inch, Rabbit Hole) made his long-awaited return to directing with this film, and wrote the script with Philippa Goslett. Fanning, Sharp and Kidman star with Ruth Wilson, Matt Lucas, Stephen Campbell Moore, Lara Peake, Elarica Gallagher and Joanna Scanlan.

How To Talk To Girls At Parties does not currently have a UK release date. Keep up with the latest genre news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
