Horror Channel FrightFest Glasgow 2017 line-up looks bloody good

Phantasm Remastered, A Cure For Wellness, Fashionista and more hit FrightFest Glasgow

It’s that time of year again, when Horror Channel FrightFest descends upon the Glasgow Film Festival with a weekend full of genre treats, and the 2017 line-up looks fantastic.

Gore Verbinski’s stylish chiller A Cure For Wellness kicks off the festival as Dane DeHaan ventures into Jason Isaacs’ sinister spa with horrifying results, and epic action comes courtesy of Toho’s Shin Godzilla, which sees the king of monsters come home, and Matthaes Hoene’s big-budget fantasy The Warrior’s Gate.

There’s the brilliantly titled zombie road movie It Stains The Sands Red and Cannes Film Festival favourite The Transfiguration, and you can get a glimspe into what life is like for a serial killer couple with Hounds Of Love.

We’re huge fans of festival favourites Simon Rumley (Red White And Blue, Johnny Frank Garrett’s Last Word) and Christopher Smith (Severance, Triangle) so we’re very excited that they’ll be in attendance for their latest films: Fashionista and Detour. We wouldn’t miss anything from these filmmakers and both sound excellent, the former a savage psychological study and the latter a “twisted revenge road movie” (sold).

The most excellent Matt Smith, Natalie Dormer and Stanley Tucci star in long-awaited undead chiller Patient Zero, a reality TV show goes horribly wrong in Cage Dive (stop trying to get close to sharks, guys), and The Night Of The Virgin is described as “disgusting, offensive, hilarious and totally brilliant!” so we’ll be there for that one.

As if that’s not enough, attendees will get to witness the beautiful 4K restoration of Don Coscarelli’s classic Phantasm, which horror fans will know is unmissable.

As ever there will be treats, surprises, shorts and a sneak peak of FrightFest fave Dominic Brunt’s latest, which has the irresistible title Adult Babies.

The Glasgow event is always a brilliant experience and this line-up sounds absolutely fantastic. Get your tickets and prepare for a full weekend of horrible delights!
