Samuel prepares a special bottle of ink; he talks to Lydia about his intent to replace Joseph. During a police raid Sylar gives Parkman an ultimatum: help him leave his body or face the consequences. Soon enough Parkman uses Sylar’s abilities to hunt out a kidnapped girl. Samuel, having accused Peter of injuring him during an emergency, breaks into Peter’s apartment and tampers with a newspaper clipping. This prompts Peter to meet up with Samuel, and in a sympathetic meeting Samuel promises to drop the lawsuit. After beating up a suspect, Parkman is forced to wipe his partner’s mind in order to escape getting reprimanded. Sylar’s manipulation is paying off. Peter and Hasam visit the mansion Samuel was instructed to visit, but it sinks into a hole. As Samuel watches from the shadows, a compass tattoo appears on Peter’s arm.
