HBO’s American Gods is set to run for six seasons

Neil Gaiman promises to write a second book just to keep up

Neil Gaiman‘s Nebula/Hugo Award winning 2001 novel American Gods, which deals with his pet themes of mythology in the real world as the old gods, led by Odin, confront the new gods of the new world, is being adapted for HBO. It’s already confirmed to have a mammoth run of 60-70 episodes, each an hour long.

As for how one book can fill 60-plus hours of material, Gaiman tweeted, “Six years of American Gods on TV doesn’t mean just the first book. It means I need to write the second now, for a start.”
