After a troubled recent history, bubbling in the crucible of development hell, the eagerly awaited TV and movie adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower fantasy-Western hybrid is finally looking like it might actually happen, having been picked up by bastions of quality HBO.
Not without a price however, as producer Brian Gazer told The Playlist, “We found a way to cut out $45 million out of the budget without changing the scope and actually giving it a good ending. In the $140 million draft, the ending wasn’t quite as satisfying. Now, we’ve got $45 million, $50 million out of the way and a really satisfying ending. It’s gonna get made.”
The fate of the movie is still unknown, and HBO haven’t passed comment.
