Marking another exciting addition to the cast of Netflix’s Luke Cage series, actress Simone Missick (best known for odd appearances in the likes of Ray Donovan and Everything I Did Wrong In My 20s) has been brought on board, officially in the role of Missy, described as a woman “with a strong sense of justice”, although as Deadline reports, her role is actually that of Marvel heroine Misty Knight.
In the comics, Misty is a NYPD officer who loses her arm in the line of duty. After being given a bionic replacement by none other than Tony Stark, she turns to superheroics, teaming up with the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Fist and Jean Grey before starting up her own detective agency, and later becoming a member of Heroes For Hire. It’s likely that this origin will be toned down a tad (we can’t see Robert Downey Jr showing up, although wouldn’t rule out Stark Industries being mentioned in some form), although there’s definitely potential for crossover with other series.
Missick joins a cast that so far includes Mike Colter, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi and Rosario Dawson, with Cheo Hodari Coker on board as executive producer.
Luke Cage will air on Netflix sometime in 2016. For more about the comics that inspired the series, pick up the 100 All-Time Greatest Comics: Revised Edition bookazine now.
