Hot on the heels of the announcement that Nina Arianda has been cast as Will Graham’s wife Molly Foster in Hannibal‘s third season, TV Line reports that another key Red Dragon character has been cast.
True Blood star Rutina Wesley, who played Tara in HBO’s blood-soaked long-running hit, will play Reba McClane. In the book, Reba is a blind woman who works alongside Francis Dolarhyde and falls for the softly spoken serial killer (in fairness, she doesn’t know he’s the Tooth Fairy). His growing fondness for her makes him want to fight his horrifying impulses…for a while.
Reba was played by Joan Allen in Manhunter and Emily Watson in Red Dragon. Wesley did some excellent work on True Blood and we’re very excited to see her show her range in Fuller’s Hannibal-verse.
