Hannibal‘s Season 2 cliffhanger left the fate of pretty much every major character unclear, as Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) and Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) were left broken and bleeding at Dr Lecter’s house.
Now, Fishburne has confirmed that he, at least, will return to Bryan Fuller’s show. Speaking to Deadline, the actor responded to the question of what we can expect from Jack Crawford with: “Well, I’ll say it in two words. Jack is back.”
This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to everyone familiar with the books and films, but it is a relief, especially given that Fuller has shown that he’s willing to play a little bit fast and loose with the source material.
The veteran actor also spoke about what the role offers him as an performer.
“It’s wonderful,” he enthused. “It’s exactly what I love about what I do as an actor. I love the opportunity to use my full range, and so playing in the comedy Black-ish gives me the opportunity to show my lighter side, and playing in this beautiful, elegant horror story of Hannibal, I get to use my darker and more cerebral side. It’s really wonderful.”
Hannibal returns to NBC in the US and Sky Living in the UK next year. You can buy Hannibal Season 1 & 2 on Blu-ray for £36 at Amazon.co.uk. Keep up with the latest genre TV news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
