Grimm Season 3: Nick is “going to the dark side”

Grimm Season 3 will change Nick Burkhardt forever, says co-creator David Greenwalt

Grimm Season 3 will pick up right where that pesky cliffhanger left off – with Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) and Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) trying to escape the zombie mob and a nearly-dead Nick (David Giuntoli) in a coffin, being shipped straight to Europe.

When he does wake up, he won’t be the loveable demon-slaying detective we’ve grown to love. “Something is going to happen to Nick in that box, and he is going to be very different,” reveals co-creator David Greenwalt, speaking exclusively to SciFiNow. “It will change his life and his relationships. He is definitely going to the dark side.”

Actor David Giuntoli, who’s used to playing the good guy, is embracing his new role. “There’s going to be a lot of fighting in the first episode back,” he says. “It’s very nice to get to be angry.”

Helping to save Nick this time around will be on-again off-again girlfriend Juliette, who has joined his steadily growing gang of monster hunters.

“Nick now has some cool Wesen friends, my partner gets it, my girlfriend kind of gets it, so he’s like, ‘OK, I’m out of the closet,’ and people seem to be accepting him,” he continues. “So I think the show can move to more of a group dynamic.”

It’s not surprising that the show is developing this way, since Grimm creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf both worked on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel with Joss Whedon.

Incidentally, Grimm Season 3 will also gain a former Angel cast member as Alexis Denisof joins the family of Royals.

Grimm Season 3 will air 25 October 2013 on NBC in the US, and later in the year on Watch in the UK. Grimm Season 2 is available to own from 21 October 2013, pre-order it now on DVD for £21.71 or Blu-ray for £24.50 from Amazon.co.uk.
