Ghostbusters 3 gets writer – who you gonna call?

Reboot will feature a mostly female cast

The massively anticipated Ghostbusters threequel is continuing to take shape, with Katie Dippold confirming her appointment as writer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dippold has previously worked with director Paul Feig on the Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy-starring comedy The Heat, as well as having written episodes for the popular series Parks And Recreation.

Her role in the as-yet-untitled Ghostbusters threequel was announced by director Paul Feig via Twitter: ”It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.”

The revelation about starring ‘hilarious women’ is a welcome one – Feig and Dippold have a great track record with female-centric films with the likes of Bridesmaids and The Heat, and with much of the original cast unlikely to return for one reason or another, the prospect of seeing a talented new creative team take the series in a different direction is one that has us very intrigued.

A release date for the untitled Ghostbusters threequel is yet to be announced. Keep up to date with the latest movie news with the new issue of SciFiNow.
