Jason Reitman’s upcoming Ghostbusters film is already eyeing up some cast members, according to Variety. Finn Wolfhard (It, Stranger Things) and Carrie Coon (The Leftovers, Gone Girl) are currently in talks to join the threequel.
Not much is known about the plot of Ghostbusters 3 just yet, but we do known that it’s set to revolve around a single mother and her son, played by Coon and Wolfhard respectively.
Ghostbusters 3 is being directed by Jason Reitman, the son of Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989) director Ivan Reitman, and will take place in the same universe as the first two films. Reitman co-wrote the script with Gil Kenan, and shooting will begin in a few months.
It’s currently unclear whether any of the original Ghostbusters cast members will return for the film. But it seems likely that at least a few will appear, seeing as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts all appeared in Paul Feig’s 2016 Ghostbusters film, and that wasn’t even set in the same universe.
Ghostbusters 3 is in cinemas on 10 July 2020. Get all the latest sci-fi news with every issue of SciFiNow.
