Since Paul Feig became attached to Ghostbusters 3, it’s generally been assumed that he’d be reuniting with Melissa McCarthy for the reboot/sequel.
THR reports that our assumptions are correct, but the problem is that the star of Bridesmaids and The Heat is pretty flippin’ busy.
McCarthy has commitments to her TV show Mike And Molly, and has comedy Michelle Darnell to shoot before she does anything else. However, Feig is said to be determined to ensure McCarthy takes the leading role and is looking for a June shoot that might work for everyone.
Meanwhile, previously rumoured big names have started dropping out of the running. The site reports that Jennifer Lawrence and Rebel Wilson will not be starring in the film, but Emma Stone remains a contender having turned down a movie that would have potentially clashed.
Meanwhile, Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live) and Jillian Bell (Workaholics) have recently had meetings with Feig to discuss the project.
