Lionsgate has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming disaster movie sequel, Greenland 2: Migration, which arrives in cinemas in early 2026, starring Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin.
You can watch the trailer below:
The anticipated sequel sees Gerald Butler and Morena Baccarin return in the wake of the comet strike that wiped out most of Earth. The first film was due to be released in cinemas by STX Films in 2020, but was delayed multiple times due to the pandemic. It was later released on video-on-demand services in December 2020 and was a huge hit with audiences, as well as grossing over $52million worldwide in the territories it was released in theatrically. It cost $35million to make.
The sequel has a large budget of around $90million, but Lionsgate are hoping for a huge return given the first film’s success in its limited release pattern.
Synopsis:
In the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the Earth, Greenland 2: Migration follows the Garrity family (Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis) as they’re forced to leave the safety of their bunker in Greenland to traverse a shattered world in search of a new home.
Greenland 2: Migration opens in cinemas on January 9th.
