With Godzilla and Monsters director Gareth Edwards’ as-yet-untitled Star Wars: The Force Awakens spin-off losing screenwriter Gary Whitta, a replacement was only a matter of time given the high gear that Disney have put their new franchise in and the looming 16 December 2016 release date.
Rumoured subjects of the spin-off movie include a Boba Fett, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tattooine, and a young Han Solo.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Whitta’s replacement is Twilight: New Moon and The Golden Compass writer and director Chris Weitz.
It’s tough to put a positive spin on that back catalogue, isn’t it?
