Fright Night remake gets cheap sequel?

2011’s horror-comedy reboot Fright Night, starring David Tennant and Colin Farrell, wasn’t exactly a huge hit, but it wasn’t dreadful either. That was clearly well below the expectations of DreamWorks, though, and the Fright Night name has been sold on to a smaller studio.

Dread Central reports that shooting is about to begin in Romania, and the plan is to “potentially spin it off into its own ‘brand’ a la Tales From The Crypt”. It’s unclear at the moment whether this next film will be a standalone flick with more standalone sequels happening afterward, or if it’s going the straight anthology film route.

According to Shock Til You Drop, Fear Itself contributor Eduardo Rodriguez has signed on to direct.

Pick up Fright Night on DVD for £5 and Blu-ray for £10 from Amazon.co.uk.
