Fox reduces order for Past Life

Detective-cum-sci-fi series has episode amount diminished.

pastlife_1_gallery_primaryPast Life, the Fox procedural series in which a pair of detectives help solve mysteries involving their clients by investigating their previous lives, has had its episode order slashed to seven episodes, including the pilot.

“Due to the return of American Idol, 24 and our other midseason programming in January, as well as the back order of Glee, we have a wealth of material for midseason and can only accommodate seven episodes of Past Life on our schedule,” said Fox in a statement regarding the reduction, although it’s unclear whether this is truly the reason behind the move. Past Life is still scheduled to air in early 2010.

Although it’s  unusual for a show to have its commitment reduced before it airs, programming issues have plagued this year’s schedule. V, for instance, is now only airing four episodes in November on ABC before returning after the Winter Olympics coverage, Chuck may be moved forward from its original March air date on NBC to as soon as the end of October, while the same network has also reduced its order of episodes for Day One to a mere four.
