Some film projects have so much star power attached that it’s tricky to see how they can fail – even when they do. However, we’re reserving a high level of confidence for Edgar Wright’s feature-length adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s children’s story Fortunately, The Milk, which according to The Hollywood Reporter, now has Johnny Depp attached as its lead cast member.
We’re going to go ahead and assume that Depp will be playing the father in the story, who nips to the shop for some milk, only to come back with unbelievable stories to tell. It’s the kind of whimsical role he plays in his sleep – and with Wright at the helm (not to mention Flight Of The Conchords‘ Bret McKenzie on script-writing duties) – that we’re confident he’ll hit out the park.
In addition, Depp will be producing alongside animation house Animal Logic Entertainment (who previously worked on The Lego Movie).
Fortunately, The Milk by Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell is available to buy now. For more news on the biggest movies, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
