It seems he has been given a reprieve though with Columbia reportedly in negotiations to acquire the film rights with a look to revamping the character once more, this time for the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Breck Eisner (Sahara/Fear Itself) is attached to direct and Neal Moritz (I Am Legend) to produce this latest incarnation of the famous sci-fi character who began life as a comic strip character drawn by Alex Raymond in the 1930s. Details of writers and actors remain unconfirmed at this point.
