Flash Foward, the new ABC pilot from David S Goyer and Brannon Braga, has been formally ordered to series.
Ex-Eli Stone executive producer Marc Guggenheim has also been attached to the project as an executive producer alongside the two already in place, and will serve as a showrunner. The news of a pickup for the series was widely anticipated even before last week, which saw a viral marketing campaign begin in an episode of Lost aired in the United States.
Flash Foward is adapted from a story by Robert J Sawyer, in which everyone on the planet sees their future for two-and-a-half minutes, causing widespread chaos as planes fall out of the sky, cars crash and thousands of people die. One FBI agent struggles to change his own future, which will be bleak and miserable unless he does something to change it. The series stars Joseph Fiennes and John Cho, and will air in the autumn, likely serving as a replacement for Lost until the Peabody-award winning show returns for its final season in 2010.
