The trailer for Hayao Miyazaki’s Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea has been released online, and sees the team at Studio Ghibli diving beneath the waves with an aquatic feature.
The film is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s story, The Little Mermaid, and sees a young goldfish named Ponyo gaining her wish to become human. Like Miyazaki’s previous films, Howl’s Moving Castle and Spirited Away, this fantasy tale looks set to be yet another majestic piece of animation with a serious ecological message at its core.

Ponyo On The Cliff By The Sea will be released later in the year at an unspecified date. It is being distributed by Walt Disney Pictures and features an impressive voice cast, which includes Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey and Liam Neeson.
