Speaking at the Supernova Pop Culture Expo in Melbourne, Australia, Jewel Staite, who plays the show’s sexually frustrated ship mechanic Kaylee, delighted attending fans by announcing the show is scheduled for a re-release. “I just heard they’re re-releasing a special edition of Firefly, in a boxset,” the actress remarked.

Fans eager for new content will be glad to know that the high-def release looks set to come with a few new extras too, Staite revealing she has been approached about recording a new commentary for the set. No release date has been revealed yet, but who knows, if it sells as well as the Firefly DVD did, maybe there might be life for Captain Mal and his crew yet.
