In an extensive interview with AICN, Jon Favreau has confirmed that he will be an executive producer on the upcoming Avengers film, due for release in 2011.
“So, we were really paying attention [to Iron Man 2’s details], of course now it becomes more and more difficult because… it has to culminate in The Avengers. Which, although I won’t be directing it, I’ll be involved with it as an executive producer and I would feel really disappointed if what good will we’ve curried from Iron Man 1 and hopefully 2, is not lived up to in The Avengers.” In the same interview, Favreau also discusses his outlook on films, whether the ‘Demon In A Bottle’ story arc will be a part of the sequel to Iron Man, and his use of in-jokes and nods. If you’re a fan of the character and the film, it’s definitely worth a look.
In addition, Favreau also confirms that Kenneth Branagh will be directing Thor, where it had previously been rumoured. “And I’m going to get a little more involved now with what goes on with the other movies. I’m very excited about Kenneth Branagh, I can’t wait to see his take on Thor and we’re really looking at the Cap stuff, very closely.”
Iron Man 2 is due for release in 2010.
