Just as Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 2 starts shooting, new plot details for the sequel have finally been revealed, and they’re pretty juicy.
According to Warner Bros., “Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.”
After his cameo at the end of the first Fantastic Beasts film, Johnny Depp will continue to play Gellert Grindelwald. Jude Law will be coming on board as a younger version of Dumbledore, who was played by Richard Harris in The Philosopher’s Stone and The Chamber Of Secrets, and Michael Gambon in the remaining Harry Potter films.
Zoe Kravitz is also joining the cast as Leta Lestrange, who we had a very quick glimpse of in the first film, along with William Nadylam as a wizard named Yusuf Kama, Ingvar Sigurdsson as a bounty hunter named Grimmson, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as wizard circus owner, and Claudia Kim as a witch who acts as an attraction at a wizarding circus.
The film is set to take place in Paris, and will continue following the adventures of Eddie Redmayne’s magizoologist Newt Scamander as he attempts to collect more magical creatures in preparing for writing his book, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.
The film is directed by David Yates, with a screenplay by JK Rowling. Rowling, David Heyman and Steve Kloves are producing.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 2 is in cinemas in 2018. A release date has not yet been confirmed. Get all the latest fantasy news with every issue of SciFiNow.
