Those of you worried about the fidelity of Fede Alvarez’ forthcoming Evil Dead reboot, cleanly titled The Evil Dead in light of the the over-budgeted likes of Rob Zombie’s Halloween need not worry, as according to executive producer and original trilogy director Sam Raimi, it’s a worthy tribute to the movie that inspired it.
“We have a few more days of photography,” Raimi told MTV at San Diego Comic Con.
When asked if it lived up to the legacy of the original film – 1981’s The Evil Dead, which was sort of rebooted already in 1987 with the blackly comedic Evil Dead II: Dead By Dawn – Raimi replied, “I don’t think about it like that. I just think Fede Alvarez has really made a great horror movie.
“It’s scary. The actors are great in it. It’s really gut-wrenching, real low budget and intense.”
