Fede Alvarez, the director of this year’s Evil Dead remake, has signed on to direct a film adaptation of the EA game Dante’s Inferno.
Deadline reports that the Uraguayan helmer will take on the game for Universal. “The protagonist, Dante Aligheri, is a knight who with the help of the poet Virgil ventures into the nine rings of hell to rescue his beloved Beatrice. In the process, he becomes an unwitting pawn in an ancient war between heaven and hell.”
It’s unclear as to what state this leaves the mooted sequel for the Evil Dead remake.
