The pair will join CSI: Las Vegas as writers and supervising producers shortly, a role similar to the one that they currently hold on the Peabody award-winning science-fiction show. “When we got the offer, we had to call Ron Moore and ask to be released from the movie. It was one of the most difficult calls we ever had to make, but Ron made it easy by telling us we should seize this new opportunity,” Weddle told SyFy Portal last week.

Jane Espenson, popular for her work on Buffy, Angel and Firefly, as well as Battlestar Galactica, will be taking over writing duties in a move that is sure to please fans of the show. “Jane Espenson has eagerly grabbed the baton and will write the movie,” Weddle confirmed to Michael Hinman in the same interview.

The second half of Battlestar’s fourth and final season is expected to air early next year. Recent reports indicate that the studios are gearing up to shoot a Battlestar telemovie this autumn.
