Variety has reported that director Kevin Lima (Enchanted, Tarzan) has been appointed to direct a Frank, a romantic take on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
The plot of this film focuses on a teenage prodigy who is making major breakthroughs in cell research technology. At the insistence of her guidance counsellor she attempts to take a break from his lab studies, and integrate with her fellow med students. After this proves unsuccessful she uses her skills with cells to construct her own buddy/suitor. The result of this experiment spawns a creation that could become more than just a friend.
The film will be released through Fox 2000 and is being produced by Ted Field and Chris Chase. The story treatment for Frank comes from a story by Karey Kirkpatrick, who also serves as an executive producer on this project.
At this time Frank has no specific production or release date.
