Edgar Wright’s Astonishing Ant-Man film to shoot this year?

Scott Pilgrim director Edgar Wright’s Marvel superhero movie Astonishing Ant-Man will hopefully film this year, perhaps for an early 2014 release. Will we be likely to see Ant-Man in Avengers Assemble 2?

Ant-Man was first introduced in Marvel Comics' Tales To Astonish #27 (January 1962) by the legendary creative duo of Jack Kirby and Stan Lee

News of this first broke two years ago when Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead writer/director Edgar Wright was riding high from his post-modern indie comic adaptation Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, but now it looks as though Wright’s Marvel movie debut, Astonishing Ant-Man, could finally become a reality.

Yes, things are definitely happening,” Wright told Empire, “and other things are happening with other things as well. There’s some interesting plates spinning, and I dearly hope I’ll be shooting this year.”

Marvel Studios boss and Avengers assembler Kevin Feige previously commented, “It’s as close as it’s ever been. Edgar is getting excited to get behind the camera again and start some advanced prep work for ‘Ant-Man’. We are going to take some forward steps in a few months that will bring it closer than ever.”

With Joss Whedon listing the original Ant-Man’s spouse, The Wasp, as a character he originally intended to introduce into Avengers, will we see the two of them pop up in the Avengers Assemble sequel?
