Edgar Wright has written a steampunk Oliver Twist sequel

Steampunk Oliver Twist sequel Dodge And Twist has brought Edgar Wright on board

Edgar WrightThe very busy Edgar Wright apparently didn’t have enough going on with Baby Driver and Grasshopper Jungle, as he’s just done a rewrite of a film being described as a steampunk Oliver Twist sequel.

Film Divider reports that Wright recently turned in a draft of Dodge And Twist (which is being loosely based on the novel by Tony Lee), which is set 20 years later. While details are light, we know that Wright is the latest in a line of writers to take a crack at the story, including Slumdog Millionaire‘s Simon Beaufoy, and Cole Haddon, creator of NBC’s short-lived Dracula, while the idea came from Ahmet Zappa.

The plot sees The Artful Dodger and Oliver Twist (who Film Divider suggest could be played by Eddie Redmayne) at each other’s necks, as Oliver is now a copper who wants to stop his old friend stealing the Crown Jewels. A young, ass-kicking Queen Victoria also plays a major part.

However, no one knows who will be directing. As previously mentioned, Wright is very busy and there’s no indication that he’ll be taking the reins on this one. We’ll have to wait and see.
