Dracula Season 2 cancelled by NBC

Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ Alexander Grayson won’t return as NBC cancels Dracula

DraculaDracula Season 2 won’t be happening, as NBC has cancelled the ambitious fledgling series.

Deadline reports that the plug has been pulled on the show, which was launched last Autumn to some fanfare, which quickly died down. It starred Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the titular Count, who travels to London to take revenge on a shady cabal with the help of Van Helsing (Thomas Kretschmann) and Renfield (Nonso Anozie).

Given the poor ratings and middling critical reaction, the cancellation doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, especially given that Kretschmann and Katie McGrath had committed to big-budget tentpole movies with lengthy shoots (Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Jurassic World respectively).

You can buy Dracula Season 1 on Blu-ray for £19.99 at Amazon.co.uk.
