Keanu Reeves will star in an upcoming adaptation of The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is being bankrolled by Universal, with Justin Haythe taking up writing duties. The Reporter states that the film will be a modern retelling of the story, which is titled Jekyll. Nicolas Winding Refyn is apparently in negotiations to direct.
Interestingly, Universal is also developing another adaptation of the same story with Guillermo del Toro, however, the plot details for the Reeves adaptation have as of yet been unreleased. It is likely that this will be released before del Toro’s take on the tale, as the director is currently tied up with The Hobbit as well as a raft of other film projects.
