The first teaser trailer has arrived for Downsizing, the new film from Election, Sideways and Nebraska filmmaker Alexander Payne, and his excursion into sci-fi looks very interesting indeed. There’s not much here beyond the impressive cast, but give it a look…
The film is about to hit the festival circuit so we should expect to see a fair bit more soon, but here’s the plot synopsis:
“When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to over-population, Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in order to get small and move to a new downsized community — a choice that triggers life-changing adventures.”
Matt Damon and Kristin Wiig star with Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau, Jason Sudeikis, Neil Patrick Harris, Alec Baldwin, Margo Martindale and Laura Dern. Payne wrote the screenplay with his regular collaborator Jim Taylor (Election, Sideways, About Schmidt).
