As part of the Doctor Who 50th anniversary celebrations, the BBC are collaborating with well-known childrens’ authors for a series of short stories, to be published digitally and then collected in a volume to be published 23 November 2013.

With one story per Doctor, already Harry Potter creator JK Rowling is rumoured to be involved, but the first author, writing about the First Doctor, is Artemis Fowl‘s Eoin Colfer, and according to the BBC, “Eoin has reimagined the First Doctor and created a brand new Doctor Who adventure called ‘A Big Hand For The Doctor’, released on 23 January 2013.”

Publisher Juliet Matthews said: “We are delighted to have 11 sensational children’s authors involved in the series, all bringing an individual style, imagination and interpretation to their eshort tribute to the Doctor.
