Doctor Who Series 9: Jenna Coleman is definitely leaving

Jenna Coleman confirms Clara’s Doctor Who exit

There have been rumours flying around all over the place this week regarding Jenna Coleman’s possible Doctor Who exit. Coleman herself finally stepped in to confirm that the rumours are true, breaking the news on Radio 1.

You can watch the video here:

Coleman says: “It’s been in the works for a very long time. Steven [Moffat] and I sat down a long time ago, a year and a half ago, and tried to work out the best place to do it and the best place in which to tell a really good story.

“We’re not going to give any details but it will happen at some point this season.”

The fact that Clara will be leaving the TARDIS for good at “some point this season” suggests that she’ll be doing a mid-series sneak attack, as opposed to having a polite end-of-series exit. Exciting.

There’s no news yet about who will be replacing Clara as the Doctor’s travelling companion. Though it does seem like a happy accident that Ingrid Oliver’s Osgood will be returning for a couple of episodes at “some point this season” too. How fortuitous. Are we on to something, or what?
