Speaking to the reliably wonderful Doctor Who Magazine, Doctor Who showrunner and fanboy hate figure Steven Moffat revealed that Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor (or 13th, or 1st, we’re not having this conversation right now) will harken back to the alien weirdness and unpredictability of Tom Baker’s Fourth in Doctor Who Series 8.

“Our vague idea is… the last two Doctors have been brilliant,” explained Moffat, “and have been your ‘good boyfriend’ Doctors. But the Doctor isn’t always like that.

“There is the sort of Tom Baker, Christopher Eccelston end of the spectrum, where he is mad and dangerous and difficult.”

Doctor Who Series 8 begins later this year on BBC One. You can buy Doctor Who: The Day Of The Doctor on DVD for £9.99 at Amazon.co.uk.
