Finally! The first trailer for the new series of Doctor Who has arrived out of Comic-Con with Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor on top form. Here it is!
It’s also our first proper look at the new companions: Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole), Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Graham O’Brien (Bradley Walsh).
And there’s two beautiful new posters (via BBC) that give us a look at the new sonic screwdriver…
Not only that, but showrunner Chris Chibnall (kind of) confirmed at Comic-Con that there will be a Christmas special this year, saying “Is there a Christmas special? Well, we seem to be filming 11 episodes, but it’s only a series of 10…I would definitely think there’s another episode after the end of the series.”
He also seemed to confirm that we won’t be seeing any Daleks this series, but in a similarly tricksy way.
“It’s pretty much all new stories. All new monsters. All new villains. We are two weeks away from the end of filming, but we haven’t come across any old villains yet.” When pushed on the Dalek issue, he replied “Well, we‘ve got two weeks left of shooting and we haven’t seen any yet.”
Now, one thing that still has not been confirmed is that sweet air date information, but given that it’s “Autumn” we should expect to hear exactly what that means very soon.
It’s brilliant to finally get to see Jodie Whittaker in character and we absolutely cannot wait…
Doctor Who Series 11 begins this Autumn on BBC One.
