Doctor Strange movie new pic is pretty magical

Benedict Cumberbatch throws some shade in this new Doctor Strange pic

Another film that seems to have had more gleaned about it through paparazzi snaps of filming (which we will never publish, by the way, unlike certain other publications) rather than actual interviews, it was nice to learn that the first official trailer for Doctor Strange will be released on 12 April. So at least there’s that.

In the meantime, a new image has been released of Benedict Cumberbatch in character as the Sorcerer Supreme himself, Doctor Stephen Strange (or Doctor Strange, for short). Not sure what he’s doing with his hands there – casting a spell maybe, or perhaps it’s some form of martial arts – but either way, it’s all very mysterious. Saying that, it’s good to see a close-up of him – very faithful to the comics, yet at the same time just about holds up with the overall tone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.dr-strange-cumberbatch

For those of you who might be unfamiliar, Doctor Strange tells the story of an arrogant but gifted surgeon whose hands are badly damaged in an accident, preventing him from doing his job. After encountering the mysterious Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), he becomes a student of the magical arts, eventually leading to him getting the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Along the way he crosses paths with the nefarious Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) along with Mads Mikkelsen’s as-yet unnamed adversary

Marvel’s latest film is being directed by Scott Derrickson, working on a script by C Robert Cargill, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, and will star Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, Michael Stuhlbarg and many more.

Doctor Strange will be released in cinemas on 28 October 2016. You can download The 25 Greatest Marvel Comics Ever digital edition from GreatDigitalMags.com now. For more news about the biggest movies, pick up the latest issue of SciFiNow.
