Doctor Strange 2 to feature classic Marvel characters, says Kevin Feige

Kevin Feige says Doctor Strange 2 will feature some classic Marvel characters

Kevin Feige confirmed this week that Doctor Strange 2, also titled Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, is set to feature some classic Marvel characters making their MCU debut.

Feige, who is President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel, confirmed the news while attending New York Film Academy as a guest speaker.

He said: “Sometimes you’re choosing [a] title hero, choosing which main character or main team you want to bring to the screen and oftentimes, it’s as you’re making and developing the movie [asking,] ‘Who will come into it?’ and ‘Who will fit into it?

“The next Doctor Strange film, for instance, features some new MCU characters which will be making their debut in that movie. You won’t expect or won’t guess who it is but we found a cool way to make it work because we want to make a particular type of movie there. And there was a character who we always wanted to do something with who will fit really well there.”

What Feige didn’t confirm, however, was who exactly those characters will be. Popular guesses include Blade, Man-Thing, Ghost Rider and Nightmare. You can watch Feige’s full talk here.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness is being directed by Scott Derrickson from a screenplay by Jade Halley Bartlett. Feige is producing, Charles Wood is providing the production design, the director of photography is Yaron Orbach and Michael Giacchino is composing the score.

The only confirmed cast members are Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr Stephen Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Benedict Wong as Wong. The rest of the all-star cast is yet to be announced.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness will be in cinemas from 7 May 2021. Get all the latest superhero movie news with every issue of SciFiNow.
