If you don’t know already (you totally should though), Disney magic is taking over the Royal Albert Hall for the night on 23 October 2016 for the European premiere of Disney’s Broadway Hits. It’s basically just a big concert, but with songs from Disney Broadway musicals. It’s gonna be a-ma-zing.
As if the concept of Disney’s Broadway Hits couldn’t get any better, the Royal Albert Hall as just announced that John Barrowman is acting as emcee for the show.
Barrowman will be leading an all-star cast featuring the likes of Oscar-winning composer and performer Alan Menken, as well as West End and Broadway favourites Scarlett Strallen (Singin’ In The Rain), Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins), Merle Dandridge (Aida), Alton Fitzgerald (The Lion King) and Josh Strickland (Tarzan).
The music will come from the BBC Concert Orchestra, which will be conducted by Keith Lockhart. The show includes songs from incredible Tony and Academy Award-winning scores, including The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Newsies, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, Tarzan, Aida, The Lion King and Mary Poppins.
“There’s nothing like a Disney stage show to get the audience on its feet, and these incredible musicals have become a part of our culture: riots of colour, dance and song packed with ingenuity, emotion and unique theatrical magic,” said Lucy Noble, the Royal Albert Hall’s Director of Events.
“We’re thrilled to announce a spectacular line-up of stars for Disney’s Broadway Hits – a collection of unforgettable voices who can truly do justice to these incredible songs.”
