DC’s Birds Of Prey gets a release date

DC’s upcoming Harley Quinn film Birds Of Prey has a release date

After a lot of development, Birds Of Prey has officially announced that it will land in cinemas on 7 February 2020. According to reports, the film will start shooting in early 2019.

The release date announcement comes shortly after a list of possible Birds Of Prey cast members was reveal. The shortlist of actors currently screen-testing for roles in the film is pretty long.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Black Mirror, ‘San Junipero’), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Friday Night Lights) and Janelle Monae (Hidden Figures) are all in the running for superhero Black Canary. Cristin Milioti (Black Mirror, ‘USS Callister’), Margaret Qualley (The Leftovers) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane) are testing for Huntress. Justina Machodo (One Day At A Time) and Roberta Colindrez (I Love Dick) are testing for Gotham City detective Renee Montoya.

The role of Cassandra Cain also needs to be filled, and according to THR the film is on the lookout for a young Asian actress.

The film currently only has Margot Robbie signed up to star, but the actress will also be producing through her LuckyChap Entertainment, alongside Sue Kroll for Kroll & Co. Entertainment and Bryan Unkeless for Clubhouse Pictures. The script has been written by Christina Hodson, who was also recently brought on to write the script for the Batgirl film. Cathy Yan is directing.
