Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes James Franco will cameo

James Franco will appear in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, he just didn’t know

James FrancoJames Franco will cameo in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, although he has said he didn’t know about it.

EW spoke to the This Is The End star about his upcoming appearance in the film, which The Wrap describes as being “via video,” which suggests he’ll act as a “previously on” for anyone who missed Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, in which his scientist behind the rise of Andy Serkis’ Caesar.

However, when EW asked the star about his appearance, Franco seemed surprised. “Wait, I have a cameo? I didn’t know that. You know, I don’t even think they asked my permission for that.”

As Vulture pointed out, Franco did talk to MTV about appearing in the sequel back in 2012.

“I was going to be a small part of the next one. There was a moment when Rupert Wyatt was going to direct the second one. A lot of the human characters that were in the first movie were dead in the sequel that Rupert was going to direct. But there was one scene, between Caesar and my character, maybe even just like on a video that was left behind, but then a lot of things happened, like [former Fox co-chairman] Tom Rothman who was a big part of the first movie, left. Now Rupert’s not a part of it so I don’t know. My guess is I won’t be in it. Nobody’s talked to me since Rupert left.”

Franco does of course have a lot on his plate, so it’s possible he just forgot or, as the cited sources have suggested, he is having a bit of fun.
