This weekend saw Doctor Who star (and all-round legend) David Tennant take to the stage at MCM Comic Con London where he spoke about being the Doctor (of course!) as well as what superhero he would have liked to play.
When asked which superhero he’d most like to play, Tennant replied that “in terms of supervillains, I got the best one with Kilgrave”, referring to his role in Marvel’s excellent 2015 series, Jessica Jones.
“In terms of superheroes I did slightly have my eye on Reed Richards, and unfortunately, it looks like they’ve gone in a different direction,” he continued. “Although if it has to be someone, I’m very happy for it to be Pedro Pascal.”
MCM Comic Con London took place at the ExCeL over the weekend of 23–25 May 2025, bringing a three-day extravaganza of all things sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and everything in between. Guests alongside Tennant included Patton Oswalt ( who told audiences over the weekend that he’d like to be in a Minecraft movie alongside Jack Black: “I’d love to be in a Minecraft movie. I’ve also been friends with Jack Black forever so getting to be in a project with him would be an absolute treat.”), Stephanie Beatriz, Nadji Jeter and more.

During audience questions at the panel at the comic con, Tennant was also asked about Doctor Who, with one fan mentioning that most people’s favourite Doctor is the one from when they were ten years old. “Doctor Who is the kind of show that imprints on you as a child,” Tennant replied to the audience member, “and if it gets its hooks into you like it did to me, it doesn’t really let go.
“There’s something about that being caught up in the magic of those stories when it first grabs you, and when it takes you on that journey through time and space, it does live with you forever.”
When asked about eras he wish he’d been able to visit in the Tardis that he wasn’t able to, Tennant revealed that “the only one I wanted to go back to was The Cavern and see The Beatles when they were brand new, but they’ve sort of done that. That was the box that got ticked after I’d left. Listen, there are loads of opportunities, aren’t there and that’s one of the joys of this show is that it’s got stories left to tell.
“We got to go to Shakespeare’s Globe, which was very exciting, I always wanted to do that,” he revealed.
MCM Comic Con will return to London on 24-26 October. Find out more at the official website here.
