Blumhouse is having a hell of a year, with Split and Get Out proving to be huge, huge financial successes. However, they’re not a company to rest on their laurels, and they’re moving ahead with a sci-fi thriller from Mean Creek‘s Jacob Estes titled Only You.
Deadline reports that the excellent David Oyelowo will lead the cast of the secretive film. They say that the “logline is under wraps, but the film is said to be a thriller involving time travel.”
It’s the second mysterious sci-fi project for the star of Selma and A United Kingdom, who is also starring in the JJ Abrams-produced film that was previously known as God Particle and is generally thought to be the third Cloverfield movie. Blumhouse showed that they could play the secret sequel game too, so we’re now going to treat every film that keeps its plot under wraps as a possible addition to a pre-existing movie universe (not really, that would be awful).
Oyelowo is also serving as an executive producer on Only You. Estes recently served as one of the writers on Rings, but Mean Creek was excellent, so we shouldn’t hold that against him.
