golden_071217123320935_wideweb__300x375.jpgSpeaking at a press conference for the forthcoming Bond movie, Quantum Of Solace, Daniel Craig has revealed that he was approached to play Thor in Marvel Studios’ comic book adaptation, and that he turned the role down.

“I’m not doing it, I said no,” Craig has said of the offer. “I cant play Bond and Thor… it would have been too much of a statement, and physically, [Bond] is kind of as physical as I want to get in movies at the moment.”

Craig also went on to say that he hopes that New Line, now owned by Warner, will make the follow-up movie to The Golden Compass. “I’d love them to do it again, because I love the books. I think there is a great story to tell,” Craig says. The movie, which was an adaptation of the first novel in Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy, underperformed at the US box office but was successful in overseas markets. The decision, though, remains with Warner as to whether the sequel movie will be made.
