After the sudden and brutal death of Leonardo’s mentor, Verrochio, da Vinci heads to Otranto with revenge on his mind. Lucrezia confronts Pope Sixtus, making public the identity of the true Pope, and Clarice must suffer the consequences of her actions after Carlo’s betrayal.
Meanwhile, Vanessa gives birth to the next in line to the Medici throne, but when she shows reservations of claiming this title, Nico takes her destiny into his own hands.
Back in Otranto, the Ottoman fleet is poised to attack and Leonardo and Lorenzo must make an unlikely union to repel the threat. Da Vinci comes up with an innovative plan to cripple the Ottoman fleet before they reach the shores of Italy. But once the guns are poised to fire, Leonardo discovers the person he has been looking for all this time is on one of the incoming ships.
