Chronicles of Narnia to stop at three movies

phlsqqplzxfwpt_m.jpgIt seems that Disney is taking a second look at their Chronicles of Narnia franchise with a look to calling a halt to the series after the third movie Voyage of the Dawn Treader rather than plowing on ahead and filming each one of the seven books in CS Lewis’s series.

Instead of Narnia, it appears Disney is looking at a possible franchise based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ John Carter of Mars series of novels. Mark Andrews has, reportedly, penned a script with which Disney is impressed and Wall.E director Andrew Stanton is rumoured to be meeting the studio soon to discuss possible directions for the movies.

This could all change though if the forthcoming Prince Caspian flick proves a hit at the box office though. 2005’s  The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe received a lukewarm reception from critics, and performed admirably if not exceptionally at the box office. If the House of Mouse can score better second time round though, who knows what might happen.
