Chris Evans’ Snowpiercer unveils grim first picture

The first official still from Bong Joon-ho’s Snowpiercer, starring Chris Evans, Jamie Bell and Tilda Swinton, has made its way online via The Film Page.

The film is set after attempts to solve global warming has failed and the Earth is plunged into a new ice age. The last surviving members of the human race on board a train that circles the globe but trouble starts when passengers stuck in the lower class sections develop revolutionary ideals.

Snowpiercer the director’s English language debut having emerged as one of Korea’s most exciting directors with Memories Of Murder, Mother and, most famously, The Host. It boasts a star-studded cast including John Hurt, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer (The Help), Allison Pill (Goon), Ewen Bremner (Trainspotting), and regular collaborator Song Kang-Ho (The Host, Thirst). A UK release date is set for some time in 2013.
